House on Haunted Hill (1959)
For the last few years this has become a Halloween season staple. As a fan of Vincent Price, this is one of his movies I can watch over and over again. House on Haunted Hill (1959) is a nice little mystery/horror that satisfies that itch for something creepy, but not graphic, and has Vincent Price in it.
Bikini Bloodbath: Car Wash
I found Bikini Bloodbath: Car Wash while trying to set up my movie list for Summer of Trash Challenge 2023. Shout out to Rich Trash on Letterboxd for setting this challenge up. The first prompt was to watch a movie with any kind of swimwear in the title. I took one look at the cast and plot and knew I had to watch it.
Quick Bites: Saw X
When I first heard there was going to be another Saw movie I was a little hesitant to watch it. But when I heard John Kramer was coming back and that it was set between Saw 1 and 2, I was completely on board. I had fun with Saw X and really enjoyed it. One of the best sequels in my opinion.
Midsommar
To be as transparent as possible (on the internet that is), this is the second time watching this. Well, actually starting it. The first time trying I got about 15-20 minutes in and shut it off. The character Dani annoyed me to no end. This time, I cleared my head and decided to give Midsommar another chance. I would give this movie a clean slate. And I’m glad I did. I do like this movie, not love it because it does have some issues, but I did like it.
Willy’s Wonderland
When this came out, I was super excited. Nicolas Cage and animatronics that kill. Who wouldn’t like this? I know that we’ve been waiting forever for a Five Nights At Freddy’s movie and this seems very similar. But I don’t care. I’ll still see that movie. For now, Willy’s Wonderland scratches that itch that I didn’t realize I needed.
Imprint
Unfortunately I was one of the few who couldn’t watch Masters of Horror when it first aired. I had to wait until it was released on DVD. I did however hear about the controversy of Imprint and how it wasn’t aired. Despite that, Imprint is a very good installment in the Masters of Horror series.
Quick Bites: Demonic Toys: Jack-Attack
Where have I been? I think I heard they were planning on making this but I didn’t really hear anything about it. So, while making my 31 Days of Horror Challenge list, I saw this was coming out and I knew I would be watching it. Granted I was a huge Full Moon/Charles Band fan back in the day, but I lost some interest in it. However, lately with their individual Demonic Toys movies, I’m back onboard as a fan. Demonic Toys: Jack-Attack didn’t let me down. I had fun with this movie, and I hope they do more sequels with it.
Carrie
Carrie is one of those kinds of movies that has the right balance of blood, kills, great acting, and a decent storyline. I would say it’s one of my favorite Stephen King adaptations. It's the kind of movie that should make you be nice to people in high school. You never know what they are going through and what they could end up doing.
Pandorum
I’ve known about Pandorum since it came out in 2009. I hesitated to watch it because I heard negative things about it so I kept putting off watching it. I now regret that decision. I find Pandorum a good, underrated science fiction horror movie that definitely does get the credit it deserves.
Quick Bites: The Blackening
It’s the most wonderful time of the year…Halloween of course! So with this Halloween season starting I chose The Blackening to start off with. The Blackening is a 2022 horror comedy from Tim Story (known for 2005 Fantastic Four and its sequel, 2019 Shaft, and several music videos). From the first time I watched the trailer I was excited for this movie. A horror comedy and a slasher, what more can you want?
